Omantel, the Sultanate’s leading telecommunications operator has signed a formal Memorandum of Understand (MOU) with Ericsson to enhance network capabilities and services according to the company’s new transformation strategy.
Talal Al Mamari, CEO of Omantel said, “At Omantel, we see ourselves as innovators and early adopters of new technology. This agreement with Ericsson comes as a part of our objective to deploy new digital smart home, innovative business and eGovernment services throughout 2016 and beyond.”

Under the terms of the MOU, Omantel and Ericsson will form joint teams to collaborate on four key areas of network improvement, focusing on: deployment of intelligent network upgrades and enhancements, development of innovative fixed and mobile products and services, expansion of Omantel’s product portfolio as well as joint evaluation of potential areas for future collaboration. Commenting on the importance of the MOU, Samy Ahmed Al Ghassany, Chief Operating Officer of Omantel noted, “We have previously partnered with Ericsson in Oman to invest in nationwide network capabilities. This relationship has been a real factor behind the expansion and improvement of network coverage levels throughout the Sultanate.
