    • Internet of Things lab

      Recently, we have joint hands with Sultan Qaboos University and mOmkin, and successfully launched an Internet of Things lab in SQU as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, which also comes in line with Omantel’s 3.0 strategy and reaffirms our commitment to enrich the digital experience in the Sultanate. The IoT lab is the first-of-its-kind in Oman and it is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including modern computers with several IoT applications. It will serve researchers, faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students in doing scientific researches

    • Renewable Energy Lab

      In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Omantel has launched an integrated laboratory for renewable energy at the Science and Technology Center of Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate. Such as wind power, solar energy, underground energy, hydrogen energy and how to benefit from it through field training and educational experiments. It is expected that the laboratory will target more than 45 thousand students and institutions Administrative and educational supervisors, educators and parents and those interested in this area annually.

    • Omantel Olympics of Coding

      aims to discover and encourage students who possess the skills and mental abilities that are essential to the logical thinking of programming, to draw their attention to the importance of information technology in our time, and what we are witnessing today from the techniques of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. On programming programs such as C++, to prepare a generation of students who are engaged in programming. More than 4,000 students from around the world participated in the preliminaries and qualified 30 students to compete in the final stages

    • Mehnati

      is a training program in mobile phones maintenance and repairing, 100 Omani job seekers have graduated from Mehnati. The Program is one of the premier programs launched for the first time in Oman in partnership between Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) and Sadara Institute. This program aims to provide the trainees with the skills and knowledge necessary for the maintenance of mobile devices as well as the identification of different operating systems and software maintenance. This is a unique area that the labor market needs in Oman. It will open up new opportunities for Omani job seekers to start their business.

    • Driven by Innovation Bus

    • Innovation Corner by Omantel

      With the objective of instilling innovation and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) culture in children, the Innovation Corner by Omantel inaugurated at the Children’s Public Library in Qurum to spread digital knowledge culture among visitors of the library; especially children and boost their passion for conducting various experiments using digital technologies available in the corner and scientifically observe their results. The Innovation Corner by Omantel is considered an educational incubator through which children can learn from information technology and understand the digital technology-based scientific system. The Corner is part of Omantel’s plans towards supporting digital transformation in Oman and it comes in line with Omantel’s 3.0 Strategy.

  • ICT internship opportunities with Huawei

    The ongoing Omantel-Huawei internship programme targets ICT students and graduates from Sultan Qaboos University, GUTech and the Caledonian College of Engineering offering internship opportunities for over 100 students to benefit from the training and knowledge transfer

  • Upgrade: Omantel, in cooperation with The Research Council (TRC), Public Authority for SME Development (Riyada), Information Technology Authority (ITA), Oman Technology Fund (OTF) and National Youth Committee (NYC), launched a multi-sectoral initiative titled 'Upgrade' to transform graduating students' class projects into financially viable information and communication technology (ICT) start-ups.

  • Hour of Code: Omantel collaborated with Engineering Village – a startup enterprise – a global educational initiative for kids (from 8 to 14) where they learn basics of coding and computer science within one hour through simple, easy and interactive programs. The global movement involves a one-hour introduction to computer.

  • Imagine Cup: Aimed at enhancing creativity and IT skills among Omani youth, Omantel partnered with Microsoft Corporation to organize the annual competition. which brings together young technologists worldwide to help resolve some of the world's toughest challenges. The competition brings together youngsters from around the Sultanate, enabling them to help resolve global challenges through mobile apps.

  • Omantel Wal Alawael: An initiative that targets training elderly people on using new technology in Ibra. This was the third session as part of a continuous initiative running for many years. The initiative aims to bridge the digital gap among older generations and enable them to benefit from the new advancements.

Responsibility

  • Mubadera Award:On the occasion of allocating the seventeenth of October of each year as a day for Omani women, and believing in the importance of supporting and strengthening the efforts of Omani women's associations in the field of empowering women and highlighting their efforts and their role in contributions to the society, Omantel launched the third edition of the Mubadara Award for Omani women's associations and their members. The initiative aims to support and enhance the role of women in civil society institutions, to be among the effective mechanisms to increase their participation in public life, and to give women more opportunities to participate in development, which contributes to refining their experiences and building their capabilities by motivating Omani women's associations to contribute community support for women-oriented activities.

  • Ramadan Campaign: Omantel organized the 9th edition of its annual Ramadhan Campaign under the theme: Give. Share. Care. The 2017 campaign covered the maintenance of 22 houses of less-privileged families across the Sultanate.

    • Colour their World: CSR initiative targeting Omantel customers on social media to be part of Omantel CSR programs, where we asked artists through social media to volunteer with us in spreading smiles on the faces of children with disabilities. The artists colored and painted the walls of kid's clinic at royal hospital in Muscat. As part of this initiative, Omantel employees also visited hospital and gave gifts to the children.

    • Summer Academy Programme: This initiative aims to improve the academic skills of the Sultanate's school children, Omantel partnered with GUtech and it is supporting the programme. The programme involves the development of academic skills, sport activities, as well as cultural, saocial and technical skills aimed at developing.

    • Annual Cancer Awareness Walkathon: During 2017, Omantel supported Oman Cancer Association in organising various fundraising activities to provide required medicines and supplements for cancer patients in the Sultanate.
